learn. dream. live. run.
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. The program is designed to develop and enhance girls’ social, psychological, and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experiences.
We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
- Develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.
Such life skills will prevent unhealthy and risky behaviors, such as physical inactivity and negative body image, and promote positive health outcomes.
Girls on the Run of Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System (GHS) is an affiliate council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 200 councils in the United States.
