Ronald McDonald House

Located directly across the street from Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House (RMH) offers a home away from home for out-of-town families who travel to Greenville for comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services.  RMH volunteers also staff a hospitality suite adjacent to the Children’s Hospital lobby where family members can go for refreshments or to gain access to the Internet.

We have twelve(12) bedrooms, each with a private bath, television and phone. The families share a large living room, where they can watch TV, movies, play games or just sit and relax in the comfort provided. There is a double-size kitchen, and a hot meal is provided each night for the families staying with us. There is a pantry where breakfast, lunch and snacks are available for our families, with an adjoining dining area for their ease and comfort. A small sun porch provides an area for relaxing and reading, a playroom for siblings to enjoy videogames, toys and great big stuffed animals. There are two (2) laundry facilities, with all the products needed for our families to take care of their daily needs that still go on while your child is in the hospital. There are several sitting areas outside for our families to take a break and enjoy the fresh air or to reflect with nature. Shuttle services are provided for transportation to the area hospitals.

It is a promise that all parents make to their child- I will always be there for you. But…

Life can change in a split second…by an accident, by words spoken from a doctor- and it is at that moment that the only thing that matters is your child, for, a integral part of a child’s recovery in knowing that their parents are close by…

In 1974, an unlikely partnership between the Children’s Hospital, The Philadelphia Eagles Football team and a restaurateur (Ray Kroc) gave us the House we know as The Ronald McDonald House. In 1989, the 120th House was built here in Greenville South Carolina, now known as The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas. It is known as the “House That Love Built”, and we would love to tell you about it.

The Ronald McDonald House provides 4000 family nights each year at our “home away from home” for the families of critically ill children.  Families come from across the Upstate, from our neighboring southeastern states, and from many other countries around the world to stay during the hospitalization of their child.  It is a very special home that opens its doors during a time of need.
