The Gastroenterology and Child Nutrition Program at GHS Children’s Hospital is a multidisciplinary program that brings multiple specialists together to treat children with a wide range of gastrointestinal (GI) diseases and nutrition problems.
The Gastroenterology and Child Nutrition Program at GHS Children’s Hospital is the largest in the state of South Carolina. We provide several thousand outpatient visits each year. Additionally, we offer a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in our office and in our state of the art GI Endoscopy Lab including reflux/impedance monitoring, wireless capsule endoscopy, breath hydrogen analysis, upper endoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy. We offer the only dedicated pediatric infusion center in the Upstate, where patients can receive intravenous fluids, albumin, and medications such as infliximab, corticosteroids, immune globulin (IVIG), and experimental medications as part of study protocols. We are active participants in clinical research, participating in numerous clinical trials.
Treatment for Allergic GI Disorders
We are a referral center for patients with allergic and eosinophilic GI disorders (EGIDs), coordinating our care with allergists and dietitians, participating in clinical trials, and authoring numerous publications relating to the disorders.
