Come help us celebrate another great year of Camp Luv-A-Lung, an annual event for children who have just completed grades 1st – 8th with respiratory problems. Sponsored by Children’s Hospital of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS) and GHS Respiratory Care Services, the camp helps children have a good time while receiving disease-specific education. Counselors are all healthcare staff, and nurses are available around the clock. Camp Luv-A-Lung takes place at Pleasant Ridge Camp & Retreat Center in Marietta, S.C.

ARRIVAL DATE AND TIME

Campers should arrive at Awanita on Thursday, July 20th between 4PM and 5PM. Please do not arrive earlier than 3 PM. Counselors will not be available until that time. Please check in at the Welcome Center (the old dining hall) where the Camp Luv-A-Lung staff will go over your medications, consent forms and give you your counselor, room assignment and directions to the lodge (it may be different from last year so please come to the Welcome Center first). Make sure campers have had breakfast prior to arrival.

MEDICATIONS

1. The medications for the entire time at camp should be brought with you and on arrival will be checked at registration. All medication should be marked with:

Name of Camper
Name of medication
Dosage to be given
Time of day to be given

2. If there have been any changes in your child’s medication since you completed their medical forms, please inform us upon your arrival to camp.

3. Camp Luv-A-Lung will have Albuterol, normal saline and oxygen available for emergency treatment only. We also have first-aid supplies and Tylenol.

TELEPHONE CALLS

Camp staff will not take messages for campers, unless it is an emergency. In case of serious discipline problems, parents or guardians will be notified to pick up their child. The camp phone number is (864) 836-3956

DEPARTURE

Camp ends on Sunday at 12 PM.
Parents/Guardians and siblings are invited to an Ice Cream Social starting at 11:30 AM sponsored by FAMILY CONNECTIONS, a local support group.

TRANSPORTATION

Camp Luv-A-Lung DOES NOT provide transportation.

It is the Parent’s/Guardian’s responsibility to provide transportation to and from camp. If someone other than a parent/guardian will be picking up your child, please leave their name upon check-in. They will be required to show a photo I.D. in order to leave with your child. This is for the safety and security of your child.
